Don’t let the Bed Bugs bite!
Apparently bed bugs are on the increase. UGH. And UGH again. Looks like we’re going to have a little routine for every room we stay in. First rule is – don’t put any luggage on the beds. Second rule is – strip the beds and look for tell tale signs.
Here are a few links with helpful hints and photos of what to look for.
Checking Your Hotel for Bed Bugs
Not so cute, huh?

OK, my wanderlust is cured for at least the next 4 months. Eeew.
I have to admit, if we hadn’t already booked the tickets, I’d be thinking “do we really want to do this?” And that’s coming from Australia, where everything is dangerous!

I figure we’ve so far survived Bull Ants erupting from under our tent and we’ve patted dingoes (ok, not wild ones) and we deal with the local spiders. Europe has to offer something to compete, how bad can it be?
I feel like I live in a safe little cocoon here in the Great Frozen Midwest. Then again, Dad Windu did get bitten by a black widow spider, which made part of his belly flesh blacken, wither up, fall off and become permanently scarred in that spot a few years back a few years back. So maybe cocoon is a poor reference…
LOVED the video, by the way.
Obi-Mom Kenobi’s last blog post..Tell them to take off!
A belated thanks for the link to bedbugger.com!
We also have travel tips for avoiding bed bugs which you may find useful: http://bedbugger.com/faqs/travel
Thanks for that – there is some more really helpful information. I really liked what you said on the end of this page:
“Most of all, don’t stay home. The world is a beautiful place. You can get bedbugs without leaving your home if someone else’s home is attached. So get out there and enjoy the world. But be careful out there.”

Thanks!
I truly believe it and it makes me sad when a bout with bed bugs makes some people afraid to live.
I travel as much as I can (and I read travel blogs too — will follow this one too. Nice blog!)
